Course Descriptions
BH 101 - Biblical Hermeneutics (3 Credits)
An introduction to the principles and methods of biblical interpretation. Students will learn systematic approaches to understanding Scripture, including historical-grammatical interpretation, literary analysis, and contextual considerations. Emphasis is placed on developing skills for personal Bible study and preparing biblical teachings that are both faithful to the text and relevant to contemporary audiences.
GL 101 - Greek Grammar for Lay Leaders (3 Credits)
A foundational course in New Testament Greek designed specifically for lay leaders. Students will learn basic Greek grammar, vocabulary, and syntax sufficient for using Greek study tools effectively in sermon preparation and Bible study. Focus is on practical application rather than advanced linguistic theory, enabling students to engage more deeply with the New Testament text.
HL 101 - Hebrew Grammar for Lay Leaders (3 Credits)
An introductory course in biblical Hebrew tailored for lay ministry leaders. Students will acquire fundamental Hebrew grammar, essential vocabulary, and basic syntax needed to utilize Hebrew study resources effectively. The course emphasizes practical tools for Old Testament study and teaching preparation rather than comprehensive linguistic mastery.
HM 101 - Homiletics (3 Credits)
A comprehensive study of sermon preparation and delivery. Students will learn principles of expository preaching, sermon structure, audience analysis, and effective communication techniques. The course includes practical exercises in sermon development, delivery practice, and constructive feedback. Emphasis is placed on biblical faithfulness, clarity, and practical application in preaching.
OT 101 - Old Testament Background (3 Credits)
An exploration of the historical, cultural, and literary contexts of the Old Testament. Students will examine ancient Near Eastern cultures, historical chronology, archaeological discoveries, and literary genres that illuminate Old Testament texts. NT 101 - New Testament Background (3 Credits)
A study of the historical, cultural, and religious environment of the New Testament period. GD 101 - Group Dynamics (3 Credits)
An examination of the principles and practices of effective group leadership and management. CA 101 - Church Administration (3 Credits)
A practical course covering the essential administrative functions of church ministry. Topics include organizational structure, financial management, legal considerations, volunteer coordination, event planning, and communication systems. Students will develop skills necessary for effective ministry administration while maintaining focus on the church's spiritual mission and purposes.
SO 101 - Sociology (3 Credits)
An introduction to sociological concepts and their application to church ministry. Students will examine social structures, cultural diversity, community dynamics, and social change processes. Emphasis is placed on understanding how sociological insights can enhance ministry effectiveness, community outreach, and cross-cultural communication within diverse congregational settings.
CP 101 - Counselling Psychology (3 Credits)
